I got dental implants a year ago. I have been waiting for my dental bridge since then because the dentist’s lab was having problems. Well, I finally got them. Everything about my smile is wrong now. The bottom bridge is totally out of proportion. Shouldn’t an implant dentist want the smile to look as natural as possible too? My dentist tells me that it’s just that I’m not used to it yet.

Jed,
There is a fundamental different between a general dentist and a cosmetic dentist. Cosmetic dentists can also place dental implants and will make them look natural. Beauty will be of utmost importance to a dentist like this. Some dentists have more of a functional mindset. They take the approach that if they fixed the functional problem and,”You’ll get used to them.” It sounds like your dentist doesn’t necessarily value aesthetics.
It may be time to seek a second opinion from a dentist that is passionate about the appearance of the dental work. Some cosmetic dentists are so passionate about how their patients feel about them that they provide a beautiful smile guarantee. This means they will send them back to the lab if the patient doesn’t absolutely love them. You don’t want to hide your smile. You deserve a smile that you can be confident in showing off. If this current dentist isn’t making the grade, move on.
